Overview

Responsible for overall operations of the yard.

Responsibilities

  • Make operational decisions within the yard that are consistent with the yards annual and monthly plan.
  • Facilitate, design, develop, evaluate, and track training for employee growth and development.
  • Direct and manage plant operations for production, quality, shipping, and receiving.
  • Ensure operating expenses are consistent with the facility budgetary and fiscal performance goals. Develop and control budgets and operating plans.
  • Manage yard inventory.
  • Evaluate, order new and/or replacement equipment as required.
  • Control and manage labor overtime and minimize repair expenses.
  • Implements and maintains preventative maintenance programs.
  • Provide direction, development, and leadership to production supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance in safety, environmental, and personnel issues that may arise.
  • Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals & objectives.
  • Incorporate shop floor organization and plant cleanliness among plant personnel.
  • Completes first report of accidents, incidents, and workers compensation claims
  • Generate and maintain reports on a daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Manage, coordinate and oversee inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Ensure compliance in safety, environmental, and personnel issues that may arise.

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum three years supervisory experience.
  • Experience with ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metals.
  • Industrial maintenance background helpful.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, & Excel. JD Edwards, SAI a plus.
  • Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent team building, problem solving, & interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lead, develop, and motivate employees
  • Team player who is dedicated to the success of the organization.
  • Ability to make quick decisions in an ever-changing work environment.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
