The ideal candidate for this position will join the retail team in assisting customers through the scrap metal purchasing process.

• Greet, assist and direct visitors, customers, and vendors through the yard/facility.
• Ability to understand and complete shipping, receiving, and contract documentation.
• Verify and weigh public and commercial vehicles for purchase and shipment of scrap metal.
• Verify customer has all proper documentation (Driver’s License) in order to comply with all state, federal, and company security and purchasing requirements.
• Answer the telephone and utilize a two-way and CB radios.
• Utilize digital camera, copiers/scanners, and ID scanners for identification purposes.
• Maintain all scale related logs, reports and paperwork.
• Communicate with transportation department, customers, management, union workforce.
• Ensure all shipping specifications and requirements are met.
• Provide administrative backup relief to other departments, as needed.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Prior customer service experience.
• Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap or desire to learn.
• Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Self-motivated, detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• A clear understanding and adherence to safety regulations.
• Operating knowledge of the industrial scale, preferred.
• Working knowledge of SAI and OTM systems, preferred.
