What Makes This Internship Different?

Operations internships at OmniSource are different because interns are fully immersed in real projects that make a measurable impact on the business. Students gain the opportunity to see operations from an operational perspective, building a well-rounded understanding of how financial systems drive and support the company’s success. Many of our full-time accountants began their careers as interns before advancing into roles such as accounting supervisor and, ultimately, controller. Internship Location

This internship is located at the OmniSource, Jackson, MI.

This internship will take place in Summer 2026.

Time Frame: Typically 20 weeks, May - Aug, but flexible, M-F 40 hours.  In office only.

What Are My Responsibilities as an Operations Intern at OmniSource?

• Actively engage in the learning process covering a variety of topics. Some examples of potential topics include:
  • Scrap metal sourcing and processing
  • Ferrous and non-ferrous material identification
  • Sales and customer relationship management
• Shadow experienced team members across departments (operations, procurement, sales, etc.) and gain hands-on experience.
• Complete weekly logs of activities completed throughout the week and participate in weekly touch-base with program manager.
• Participate in internal training classes as directed.
• Demonstrate growth in knowledge, initiative, and leadership potential throughout the program.
• Network with internal and external customers.
• Follow all company protocols and policies regarding safety, including wearing all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
